MORAIRA (10 mins drive)

What was once a small fishing village, Moraira has developed into a cosmopolitan, up-market town retaining a village atmosphere.  Small colourful streets, pavement cafes, a pretty marina, a sandy bay and much more make this a great place to visit for all the family, both during the day and in the evening.  There's an excellent selection of bars and restaurants, anything from Indian, Chinese, Japanese, Spanish and international cuisine.  A traditional weekly market takes place every Friday; besides fresh produce, you can find a large selection of other merchandise such as plants, leather goods, and many other products from local craftsmen. Next to the market is a children's amusement park which is open at night. Moraira also offers 2 crazy golf courses, go carting and tennis.

Moraira's main beach, L'Ampolla, at the foot of the castle, is an ideal 'family' beach with lots of golden sand and excellent facilities while just 1.5 kms away is El Portet.  Surrounded by steep hills, this sheltered bay with its gently sloping beach is perfect for safe swimming.  From El Portet you can watch the sun set behind the Penon de Ifach - a large column of rock which rises from the sea, whilst enjoying a cool drink or even dinner from one of the beach side restaurants.

JAVEA (20 mins drive)

Javea is a large town which has preserved its charm. It's a fascinating mix of old and new.  It boasts a lovely palm fringed sandy beach with children's play area, volley ball, boats and jet skis for hire in high season, and an unspoilt old town - home to many local residents, and the backdrop for many colourful festivals, plus an abundance of shops and restaurants.  It also has a marina where you can see the local fishremen come in with their catch.  For golf enthusiast there's a great golf course.

CALPE (30 mins drive)

This is where you'll find the Rock of Ifach, you can see the top from the terrace of the villa.  The volcanic rock measures over 300mts high and is now a nature reserve. For those wishing to get a breathtaking view of the coastline, there's a path that takes you to the peak.  Calpe is a great place for all the family and well worth a visit.  There's a great promenade with an abundance of restaurants, snack bars, shops - something to keep the whole family happy.  In the high season there are water activities, a safe area to swim, a lifegard and play equipment on the sand for the younger ones.  There's a large marina and nearby some of the best fish restaurants, serving up the freshest of fish - straight from the sea to the plate!

DENIA (30 mins drive): Is the largest of all the local towns. The town has  retained a lot of its old charm; for example, the fishermen's quarter preserves its delightful cobbled streets and whitewashed buildings. There's an abundance of beaches near the town, many of them consistently winning the European 'blue flag' for safety and cleanliness. Denia's main focal point, though, is its impressive 16th century castle, which dominates the town. From Denia you can take a ferry to Ibiza, making a great day out.

GATA DE GORGOS: Is located about 8kms inland from Javea, and is a small town well known for the production of cane goods. The town has many shops which sell cane ware and souvenirs, and also has a guitar factory where you can watch Spanish guitars actually being made. On the road from Teulada to Gata de Gorgos is a ceramic shop (on the left hand side) - this is a definite 'must do' - it has a vast selection of goods ranging from garden ceramics to fine dining table glass ware, decorations etc.

GUADALEST (40 mins drive)

The small village of Guadalest occupies one of the most stunning positions in Spain, with the whitewashed bell tower of Penon de la Alcala being one of the most photographed tourist attractions in the region.  The pretty village is precariously perched on the top of a granite mountain, giving fantastic views across the valley carved out by the river below. The drive up the twisting road to Guadalest is almost as spectacular as the position of the village.

FURTHER INFORMATION: For those seeking a more cosmopolitan experience, VALENCIA is about one hour's drive to the north.
